The Wardlaw+Hartridge School employs athletic trainers who oversee all athletic injuries at the school. Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Athletic Trainer’s work under the direct supervision of a physician. W+H has contracted with Atlantic Health System and our school physician is Dr. Heydinger. His information can be found below.
In order to provide the best possible care to our student-athletes and ensure that we are following the appropriate channels, we have outlined some helpful information on our injury policy below.
This is the first step. Please reach out to our athletic trainers and notify them of any injuries that your child may have. If our athletic trainers are not aware of any injury or pain, then they cannot communicate to coaches or work on getting our injured athletes back on the field.
Our athletic trainers will communicate with parents if it is an injury that requires further care than the athletic trainer can provide. We empower our student-athletes to communicate with their parents or guardians regarding their injuries as well.
